What long-lasting chews are best for my 100lb Great Pyrenees puppy?

My favorite rawhide chews are sold through a company called Raw Feeding Miami (www.rawfeedingmiami.com). They have large, very durable rawhide rolls that are all-natural and made without any chemicals or artificial processing. They're quite thick and last a long time, even for big dogs - I would highly recommend giving them a try if you're looking for a good rawhide for Buddy :)

To keep dogs entertained for a longer period of time, I like to feed dehydrated chews. My largest dogs prefers bully sticks (https://www.bestbullysticks.com/4-inch-odor-free-bully-sticks) and my smaller dog loves dehydrated fish skins (https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/beams). They also like dehydrated sweet potato chews like Sam's Yams, but I might do something smaller for Jasper like their Bichon Fries (https://www.frontporchpets.com/sam-s-yams-bichon-fries-new-larger-size-12-5-oz.html). You are correct that antlers and nylon bones will break teeth, but they can also cause obstructions and/or perforations in the GI tract. I recommend a Kong toy. Those are very tough chew toys that are hard to dogs to destroy. You can also fill them with treats. I'd recommend, as an occasional treat, filling it with peanut butter and freezing it overnight in the freezer. That will keep her occupied for a while.

Hi there. Yes, I would definitely recommend giving Lirril some things to chew on. It's normal for puppies and adolescents to be very mouthy and want to chew constantly at this age. I normally recommend things like all-natural sturdy rawhide chews, bully sticks, and puzzle toys such as a frozen Kong stuffed with peanut butter. These do not cause cancer, and are generally safe for dogs to chew on.

Thank you for submitting your question and congratulations on your first dog! Treats should not comprise more than 10% of the diet. They should be given in small amounts. If you are giving Milk Bones, by the tiny size and only give several a day. Most dogs in this country are overweight. Being strict with his diet from the start with help to prevent this from occurring with him. As far as the best chew, it is based on the individual dog. The chew needs to be something he enjoys, but more importantly something he cannot break pieces off and swallow. This can become a surgery to remove. I hope this information helps!
