What's the best and safest way to improve my dog's coat health?

To help the hair coat reach it's potential (you can not change genetics) feed a high quality commercial dog food (no people food), supplement with Omega 3 fish oils, brush the coat daily, deworm regularly if exposed to the outdoors and bath with a moisturizing shampoo as needed. Sharon is such a great looking dog! The best thing you can do for the fur is to ensure he is on a high quality dog food. You can also add in some fish oil and omega-3 fatty acids over the food twice a day. This will help make the coat grow and shiny. Also, brushing him daily will keep it clean. You can bathe him every 2-3 weeks in a moisturizing shampoo. If you bathe him too often, it will dry out his skin. I hope this helps!

There are two brands of food, Royal Canin and Nutro, which are aimed at skin and coat health. Supplements and diet may help to promote a healthy coat. Additionally, conditions such as skin infections, parasites, allergies and endocrine disease will all cause poor hair coats so it's important to make sure Bollubhai is healthy. I recommend giving a fatty acid skin supplement orally to help keep her skin healthy and coat shiny. Fish oil orally will work also. I do not use anything on the skin itself usually unless it's very dry and flaky, then I use a moisturizing grooming spray after a bath with a hypo allergenic shampoo. Hello. The best way to improve hair coat quality is to first make sure no parasites are present (fleas, mites, etc). Then getting him on a good quality dog food. Thirdly, grooming him and brushing him will help improve hair quality. Fish oils can also improve hair quality, however a good diet will be better than this! Good luck!
