What a cutie! It's hard to tell from the picture, but she looks like she's at an ideal weight. Rather than tell you an exact number she should weigh, I think it's beneficial to explain what to look for to know that her body condition is ideal. At an ideal weight, you should be able to run your fingers over her sides and feel the indents between the ribs without pushing in. If you see her ribs, she is too thin. Looking down on her when she's standing, she should have a little indent in her waist. Monitor both of these things to make sure she maintains an ideal weight.

Without seeing Buddy in person (who is very handsome by the way!), I can't say if he's overweight or not because he's a mix breed dog. If you can get him down to 18 pounds, that would be a good start. Most male Chugs weigh about 15 to 18 pounds. Monitor his weight as well as his BCS (body condition score). Your veterinarian can show you how to do this. You want Duke to lose weight but not too much. He should have a nice layer of fat over his ribs. He should also have a wait when viewed from above and a gentle abdominal tuck when viewed from the side. He shouldn't look like a square or a rectangle

Without a photo, I can't say by looking what kind of body condition she has, but from the description above twelve pounds is a good-size Chihuahua. Hello! In an ideal situation, you can feel the ribs, but not see them, so that sounds pretty good! When you look at him from above, there should be an "hourglass" shape, just behind his ribs, in an ideal body condition.

Average female chihuahuas weigh around 6-8 pounds, but this range can vary widely. At a normal, healthy weight, you should be able to easily feel (but not see) Maggy's ribs and a "waistline". Your vet will be able to tell you if Maggy is at a healthy body weight, but 30 pounds seems quite high for an average chihuahua.
