My German Shepherd had two fits in two days. Is it epilepsy?

This sounds like it may be seizure activity - keep a diary of all events and altered behaviours so you can track any changes and contact your vet for a full health check and blood panel to rule out medical causes such as liver or kidney issues. Video an episode if at all possible to allow better assessment of what is happening

Most probably epilepsy indeed, it fits the symptoms and the age. It is important to rule other possibilities though (blood test should rule out some of them). Treatment for epilepsy is done medically and this treatment will need to be given on a daily basis, there is no other way other than taking her to the vet in order to get it sorted.

Seizures in puppies can often times be due to low blood glucose or liver shunts, mid age dogs is commonly epilepsy or inflammation in the brain, and in older dogs it is more commonly associated with cancer. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian soon. Blood work will likely be recommended to look for other causes such as thyroid disease and liver shunt. They May discuss anti seizure medication, although many veterinarians may discuss but not start medication with just 2 seizures. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. It sounds like Flower may be having a seizure. I would recommend to make an appointment with your veterinarian and plan on running some blood work. Seizures can be present due to epilepsy, liver disease, electrolyte imbalance or a tumor in the brain. Bloodwork will help to know if the liver or electrolytes are to blame for the seizures. There are a few things that could be causing Nyx to have this behavior. The first is heat stress, some dogs are not heat tolerant. Try the same activities inside and see her response. The other is syncope or fainting spells. These can sometimes be caused by poor blood flow from her heart. When she is more active, her heart rate speeds up to accommodate the needed extra blood flow. If the episodes continue, try to get a video it to show to your vet. Nyx may need an ultrasound of her heart (or an echo) to look at its function.

There are many different things that can cause seizures - it's certainly possible that she may have epilepsy, but other possible causes would include a systemic illness like liver or kidney disease, a central nervous system problem such as meningitis or a brain tumor, or exposure to some type of toxin. Bloody diarrhea is not a sign of epilepsy and is not normally associated with seizures in general, so this may be a separate problem. I would recommend taking Luna to the vet for an exam as soon as you are able to. He/she can do a complete neurologic exam and may also recommend blood work or other testing if needed to help determine what is causing her seizures. If she does have epilepsy, your veterinarian can prescribe medication to help control her seizures.

I'm sorry to hear Lika is having a tough time. Seizures can result fro organ dysfunction, electrolyte imbalances, toxins, cancer or epilepsy. I think you should take her in to have bloodwork to make sure her organs and electrolytes are normal. If they are normal, the doctor will talk to you about next steps which may include medication, a CT scan, referral or monitoring. Best to have Lika checked out to starting figuring out what's going on.
