Why does my German Shepherd puppy's long tail touch the ground?

Puppies go through growth spurts just like humans do. They will have times where they look thinner and times when they look heavier. I would not be overly concerned about this. Usually the tail fills out when they are an adult between 12 and 18 months of age.

This is sterotypic behavior (like obsessive compulsive disorder in people) and is common in GSDs. I don't think you need to do anything about it unless he is injuring himself. The question you are asking is a little unclear. I think you are trying to ask what the average adult size of a German Shepherd is at a particular age. An adult female GSD should reach anywhere from 50-85 pounds depending on breeding lines. Complete growth in large breed dogs is not usually reached until at least 18 months of age, though the majority of their growth has stopped by on year. Based on the photo you have provided and the age, Soska looks to be a very appropriate size at this time.

Tyson looks fine weight-wise for his age, although he is not the best quality German Shepherd Dog, which is why his head is so narrow and he is fine-boned and small. There is a good likelhood that he may not be a purebred GSD also. As for his greeting people, this is exactly what you want in your dog. I have done protection training with GSDs for 26 years, and one of the most important things potential trainees are tested for is their ability to tell threat from non-threat. The average person on the street is not a threat to you, so your dog should act exactly like a Labrador towards him. If someone were to attack you, it would be a good bet that you would see the reaction you are looking for. A dog who is mean all the time is a danger to his owner as well as others, and a lawsuit waiting to happen as well.

I am not really sure what you are worried about. I would not be overly concerned about anything related to his looks until he is full grown (about 18 months of age). You absolutely don't want a large breed puppy to grow too fast as that can cause joint abnormalities so be careful of this. He should be eating a large breed puppy food so I hope the Royal Canin you are feeding is this type of diet and not just a general puppy food. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Oscar. I recommend that he sees a veterinarian. His fluffy hair coat makes it difficult to assess his weight from a picture. He will be examined, dewormed and started on his vaccines and likely heartworm prevention as well. His weight and diet can be discussed as well. I would not expect his ears to stand up for several weeks yet. I hope this information helps!
