Is it normal for my German Shepherd puppy to shiver while sleeping?

There could be a couple of reasons why Rosie is shivering. Shivering could be caused by pain, fever, anxiety, or nervousness. Given she recently saw the vet and had had no problems, I would suspect nervousness might be the cause. She's new to your home, and that is a stressful adjustment. As long as she is eating and drinking normally, going to the bathroom normally, and otherwise acting normal, I would not be too concerned about it. I hope this helps!

Yes, it is normal for them to breathe fast, twitch and even vocalize in their sleep. As long as he is normal when awake there is no concern. The nose can normally have a little watery discharge from time to time. If he starts to sneeze frequently or has mucous discharge, then this would indicate a problem like infection or allergies. I am so sorry to hear that Roxie isn’t feeling well. Your profile doesn’t state how old Roxie is. Seizures in puppies can often times be due to low blood glucose or liver shunts, mid age dogs is commonly epilepsy or inflammation in the brain, and in older dogs it is more commonly associated with cancer. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian soon. Blood work will likely be recommended to look for other causes such as thyroid disease and liver shunt. They May discuss anti seizure medication, although many veterinarians may discuss but not start medication with just 2 seizures. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. If he is otherwise normal I'm not concerned. He may be stressed from moving to a new home or dreaming. If it was a seizure you would notice him going from normal to having muscle spasms, then getting back to normal in a few minutes. It's a good idea to video the behavior and write down when it occurs so you have a history to discuss with your veterinarian should it get worse. I like to write down the episodes on a calendar so I can go back and check the frequency. Willis may stop this as he becomes settled in your house and as he gets older. If he appears agitated, weak or ill please take him right in for an exam. You may want to double check with his breeder to see if any other pups or the parents are doing this. Cavaliers do get heart disease, but usually when they are old, and purebred dogs can get epilepsy but seizures often don't start until they are six months to a year old. It is normal for dogs to go someone limp and have rapid eye movement while in deep sleep, just like with people. In some cases, you may see your dog whimper or even twitch their limbs if they are dreaming or deep in REM. If your pup seems in distress, or this happens often or when she isn't asleep, a vet checkup is always a good idea.

A lot of what puppies do while sleeping doesn't mean anything is wrong with their health. If she is acting sick when awake then I'd be worried she is in pain or has a fever. Puppies do tend to sleep very deeply and they do dream more than adult dogs. I recommend to record one of these episodes. Start filing before you begin to stimulate her and then record the entire session until she is fully awake. Show it to her veterinarian. This will help to give a better idea of pathology or not.
