My Frenchie puppy is congested and sneezing. Is he okay if he's active?

I'm so sorry to hear Koda is not feeling well. Being congested and sneezing could indicate he has an upper respiratory infection. Some of these dogs can cough/gag up a foamy white material as well. This difficulty breathing could be related to his bronchitis, but the conformation of his nostrils and soft palate could be contributing to it as well. Because of his flat face, Jax will have an undersized throat and breathing passages, and when there is inflammation in the airways, it will be even harder for him to breathe. If he's congested, he may need bronchodilator, and you'd have to speak to your vet for a prescription for that. At home, you you can also try using a humidifier or bringing him into the bathroom with the door closed while you take a hot shower - the steam and humidity help to break up congestion and temporarily relieve symptoms associated with respiratory infections. When he's better from the bronchitis, it would be worth a discussion with your vet about his facial conformation. If he has stenotic nares, an elongated soft palate, and everted laryngeal saccules, having surgery done to correct this things will help with his breathing in the future.

If she is eating well/nursing well, and going to the bathroom normally in addition to acting fine, she may be OK. I just worry about how young she is though. I wouldn't let this go on too long. If she were to get sick it's much harder on her because her immune system is so immature. I would take her in when you can to see the vet. They can check her lungs and make sure the congestion is just in her upper respiratory tract. Tiny puppies can also have a condition cause cleft palate, for example, and that can cause them to inhale the milk when nursing. This can cause pneumonia, so again, I'd have her examined as soon as you're able. In the meantime, taking her in the bathroom when members of the household shower can help clear out her upper respiratory react, acting like a humidifier with babies that have stuffy noses.
