My adopted French Bulldog has saggy nipples from breeding. Serious?

French Bulldogs are so cute! Given that she is three and is still unspayed, the biggest health risks are a pyometra and mammary tumors. Spaying her when you get her will take away the risk of a pyometra, but she will still have a 25% chance of developing mammary tumors during her lifetime. In dogs, 50% of mammary tumors are malignant, so it's important to get any lumps checked out right away that may develop on her belly. Other than that, excluding the heath risks that are common with the breed, there are no additional risks to adopting a dog who has been bred. I hope this helps!

Congratulations on your new pet - it’s wonderful that you rescued Bonnie! I definitely recommend getting her spayed to prevent pyometra, a potentially life threatening infection of the uterus. Unfortunately, this will not alter the loose tissue causing her teats to hang low. Your vet may be able to get rid of some of the extra tissue during the surgery. If Bonnie is overweight, exercise and proper diet will help if there is fat present, but the skin may always be the same.

I think it would be worthwhile having her evaluated to make sure that it does indeed look like a nipple and to ensure it is not something else like a mass or nodule. She may have mammary cancer which is fairly common in unspayed dogs. Your vet can perform either a biopsy or a fine needle aspirate and cytology to confirm the nature of the mass. If it comes back as mammary cancer, full screening pre-operative bloodwork as well as chest radiographs to rule out metastasis to the lungs will likely be discussed. If chest rads show that cancer has already spread to her lungs, unfortunately surgical removal under anesthesia may not be practical. Good luck-

Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. I would give his vet a call to make him an appointment to be seen in the next couple of days. Best of luck.

What you are feeling are tumors (breast cancer); very common in dogs that are not spayed. They could be benign or malignant. I can't tell you that. You need to have them surgically removed and sent to a lab for histopathology. She should also be spayed as the same time as the masses are removed.
