My vet has no records. How to find my dog's microchip and vaccines?

We're trying to get involved in Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach as many veterinarians as we can, but we still have a long way to go. So, if you can't find your vet, we recommend you contact the clinic directly by phone or stop in to make an appointment or to request your pet's medical records.

Yes, you need to take Dandy to a vet and let them know that you just got him but did not receive any vaccine records. . They will get him started on his vaccines and likely give him a deworming. They will talk to you about what else he may need like heart worm prevention, flea/tick prevention, etc depending on what is prevalent in your area. It is best to get him established with a vet anyway in case of any problems that may arise or emergency situations. Hope this helps. Best wishes!

Hello! I am sorry to hear that, but don't worry- the hospital where your dog went will have the records if they are in the past few years! If you went to a vaccination clinic at Petco you can call (877) 738-6742 and they will direct you! I hope this is helpful!

Hi Sayra, Unless Dylan received his vaccinations at one of our VETCO clinics we cannot give you any records. The records must come from the veterinarian/veterinary clinic that administered the vaccinations. If you need proof of his vaccinations but you cannot get the records, unfortunately you will have to have him vaccinated again. If you have him vaccinated at a VETCO clinic the records will be available indefinitely so you don't have to worry about every losing them. Hope this helps. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Jasmine is adorable! I would bring Jasmine to your Vet. They can help you determine her age. Bring a stool sample with you. If you do not have any records the Vet will determine how many DHPP vaccines she will need to protect her. It is in her best interest to receive the vaccines even if she had they before. The Rabies vaccine can be given in most state between 12-16 weeks of age. Your Vet will likely deworm her and get her on a good flea/tick and heartworm prevention. They will also discuss a good time to have her spayed. I hope this helps and I wish you both the best!

In most cases, you'll need owner permission in order for records to be transferred over, so while you can contact the vet, you may not be able to obtain full records. That said, they may at least be able to confirm neuter/vaccine status for you so you can let your vet know. If you can't get any records, you can also have your current vet perform a titer test to see where Wooly's immunity levels are, and then booster vaccines from there.
