My Eskimo Spitz puppy isn't fluffy. Is this normal for her age?

Each Pomeranian has a different coat. Some will depend on the coat type of the parents. If the parents were not really fluffy, this baby may not be either. But, she will get more furry when she gets an adult coat. This age still has a finer coat. It will thicken over time. Either way, she is adorable just how she is!

He looks like a handsome boy! Its hard to appreciate the character of his haircoat based on picture, but it does look full, though he doesn't seem to have a thick undercoat. I see you are in Belize; if you are in a warm climate, he isn't going to get that very thick coat, as that would increase the chances of him overheating. Puppies can look a little scraggly when losing their puppy coat, but it could also be there is a problem with Winter such as fleas, allergies, or mites. Without seeing him in person, I can't be certain. Have him checked out by a vet to be safe.

It's normal for puppies this age to have a thinner coat than an adult dog - most German shepherds do not have a thick, full adult coat until 2 years of age or older. If there are any bald patches where she has lost hair, or if she is itching excessively, these can be signs of a skin condition such as allergies or mange - in that case, I would recommend having Roxy examined by a vet. He/she can do some simple skin tests if needed to help determine the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Puffy. I do not believe that her hair coat indicates any disease process. Rather it is likely result of her genetics. What breed was her father? My guess is that her appearance is closure related to him than the other pups. I hope this information helps!

The pictures are pretty blurry so it is difficult to see the spots well. However, young puppies can develop little freckles or increased pigment as they get older. I suspect this is what is going on. Puppies go through growth spurts just like humans do. They will have times where they look thinner and times when they look heavier. I would not be overly concerned about this. Usually the tail fills out when they are an adult between 12 and 18 months of age.
