Why are both my dogs suddenly limping with no clear reason or injury?

I would be looking into the possibility of this being something affecting the joints per se such as immune mediated polyarthritis or perhaps something like hypertrophic osteodystrophy given his young age. These are possible things your veterinarian can look into. Treatment of course would depend on findings. At the very least they can try pain control medications and anti-inflammatory drugs. Certain conditions such as Lyme disease and autoimmune conditions can cause occasional limping, as you described. Your vet can perform x-rays and blood work to rule out the conditions above. Limping can be due to many reasons that go from relatively uncomplicated such as soft tissue injuries and osteoarthritis to more complicated and serious injuries such as fractures and even bone tumors. I highly recommend that you have Roxy evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to localize her pain and decide what the next diagnostic step which will likely be radiographs. At the very least, they can start her on pain control medications. I am very sorry to hear that Kiki is limping, I am sure it is worrying for you both. Unfortunately, there are many reasons why a dog may limp, ranging from injury, infection, osteoarthritis, disorders of the growing bones or joints, and even some cancers. In order to determine the precise cause of Kiki’s limping it would be best to take her in for an examination by a veterinarian. A veterinarian will also be able to make Kiki comfortable by providing pain relief medication. The vet may also perform an orthopaedic exam and an X-ray. If Kiki seems very uncomfortable or depressed, you suspect a broken bone, the limb is dangling at an unnatural angle, a limb is being dragged, severe swelling is occurring, the limb is hot, bone is piercing the skin, or nonstop bleeding is occurring, Kiki needs to see a veterinarian immediately. Because Kiki is limping on both front legs I would advise taking her to see her vet as soon as you can. Causes of a front leg lameness could be: arthritis, a strain or sprain that needs more time, Lyme disease, neck injury and pinched nerve, peripheral nerve sheath tumor, bone tumor, bursitis/tendinitis. I think having Mya examined is a good idea since it’s been waxing and waning for a few months. Your Vet may want to check her for Lyme or take X-rays. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am glad your Vet is involved. The limping is odd with the gastro-intestinal signs. In one dog I would think it is just random, but in 2 that is strange. It could be an immune issue like lupus or an immune polyarthropathy. If the Gi signs were from something infections (viral, fungal) that could possibly involve the bones or joints. I agree with the fecal. If the limping doesn't resolve I would do blood work on both dogs and X-ray the affected limb. It sounds like Kia should be seen again first. I wish you all the best!

Possible causes of Bruno's limp are: strain or a sprain from being stepped on, if he is older it could have aggravated arthritis, a toe or a bone could be broken, or it could be something unrelated like Lyme disease. Since Bruno can hardly walk on the leg that indicates pain. I recommend having Bruno seen by your Vet for an exam. If there is concern for the paw then they may want to take X-rays, otherwise they may just prescribe anti-inflammatories and rest. I hope this helps and I wish Bruno a speedy recovery!
