Why does my female Yorkie have yellow pus pimples near her vagina?

hi i have a 5 years old female yorkie. i notices she has had yellow small pimples around her vigina. she doesn't seem bothered but i noticed its grown and with yellow pus. what could this be?

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Lexie Rose. Small pimples with pus that develop are called pustules. These are caused by a normal bacteria that lives on her skin (Staphylococcus pseudointermedius). This bacteria is NOT contagious to other dogs or to people. It's hard to say exactly what caused this and you may never know why. The important thing is to monitor them and make sure they resolve. You can warm compress them and try to encourage them to rupture/drain. If more of these lesions develop or you notice other signs (itching, scratching, discomfort, etc), I would advise that you have your veterinarian evaluate her. Your vet can then discuss how to proceed. In the meantime, warm compress and buy some medicated shampoo at your local pet store. Good antibacterial shampoos contain benzoyl peroxide and will be under various brand names. These shampoos are great with breakouts like this or worse. Good luck with Lexie Rose.

Pyoderma is usually caused by *Staphylococcus* bacteria (or *Staph* for short). There is nothing to do about it in most cases. Typically, this condition will resolve on its own . If she licks it or if the condition worsens or spreads, have her physically examined by your veterinarian. A small [e-collar](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/all-four-paws-tan-comfy-cone-5000727--1) (cone) can be used to prevent licking until she sees the doctor. Stubborn cases may require a course of antibiotics.

My dog has a yellow bump on her belly. Is it a bacterial pimple?

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to see that Khloe is having a problem. It looks like it's a pus filled pimple which is called a pustule. It is a localized bacterial infection (staph infection) which is not contagious to other pets or people. You can warm compress the area 2-3 times per day to get it to rupture and then hopefully it will heal up. If this problem persists, spreads, worsens or becomes itchy, I would advise letting your vet take a look to make sure that is what I'm suspecting. Otherwise, if this resolves and clears up, you have no worries. This lesion should dry up and may become a circular spot with a ring of dried skin around it. That is the typical progression of a pustule. Good luck with Khloe and I hope this resolves without incident.

My dog has whitehead pimples. What are they and what should I do?

Without a [physical exam](https://www.petcoach.co/article/what-does-your-veterinarian-look-for-during-a-physical-exam), I can't say for certain what they are, however, I can tell you that small bumps on the skin which are filled with pus are called pustules. These can be caused by a bacteria infection of the hair follicles (bacterial folliculitis), autoimmune diseases, a bacterial skin infection ([pyoderma](https://www.petcoach.co/article/staphylococcal-pyoderma-a-common-skin-infection-in-dogs-pup/)), a fungal skin infection among others. I would recommend taking Sadie to the vet to determine the cause of the pustules, and to prescribe the proper treatment. In the meantime, do not squeeze them or try to pop them, as you could potentially spread infection. An [e-collar](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/well-and-good-e-collar) (cone) can be used to prevent lickign or chewing until she sees the doctor.

Why does my puppy have red and white pimples but isn't itchy?

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! From what I can tell via your photo, this looks a lot like puppy pyoderma-a very common condition among young dogs. Essentially, these are "pimples" for puppies and usually caused by staph bacteria. I will usually try to rule out any underlying flea problem resulting in pustules, etc when I see these patients. If I see nothing else of concern I will usually prescribe antibiotics for 10-14 days at which point the breakout has usually cleared up. I would recommend seeing your vet to do these things as well-Lala will be much more comfortable without pustules. I hope this helps!

Why does my 8-year-old female dog have a pus-filled nipple lump?

They can prescribe a topical or systemic antibiotic for her which may be enough to treat this if they agree it is an infection. Good luck!

My dog has a pimple with white pus. Is it serious? How to treat?

I don't think this is a serious issue at this point. It looks like a pustule/pimple which may be from an ingrown hair or she may have had an insect bite. You can use these medicated pads on the affected area once a day.
