My dog has worms. Is just one deworming tablet enough to treat them?

The dose of dewormer is weight dependent so if the same drug was used it is likely the new dog weighs more or they used a different dewormer. A lot of vets use the heart worm prevention as a dewormer because it also takes care of intestinal parasites. It is really Vet preference. I hope this helps!

Hi, it is fine to give the two tablets together as a single dose. The dose is accurate for a 20 kg dog, how often your repeat it will depend on how frequently he comes in contact with parasites. If there are lots of worms in the environment, he could be wormed every 3 months but I would double check with your vet. Hope this helps !

The best medication for this is usually chosen based on a fecal examination to determine which parasite is affecting Ace. The same deworming medication can be given to your other dog. If your dog is sick three hours after giving the worming treatment, this should be sufficient time for the worming treatment to be absorbed. To err on the side of caution, if your dog is known to be infested with worms, it might be a good idea to re-treat him in a week's time with a different product. I'm not sure which product you are currently using, but I recommend using Drontal. You can get a Drontal tablet from your vet. If that doesn't make him sick, you can use it as your regular worming treatment.

I'm wondering if you mean Zo has worms. The best thing to buy him is a deworming treatment called Panacur. It kills roundworms, whipworms, and hookworms. You can get it at your vet's office. He will need a second deworming treatment two weeks after the first to kill all the worms. The first treatment kills the adults present while the second one kills the ones that had not yet hatched from eggs at the time of the first treatment. He should then be deworming monthly until six months of age, and then every three months thereafter. I hope this helps!

Great question! No, one pill is not enough. Due to the life cycle of the worms, Chiron will need another Drontal tablet two weeks after the first one was given. This will kill the worms who had not yet hatched from eggs when the first tablet was given. I would get another Drontal for him. Best of luck.

Yes she sure can. It can take up to 1 week to rid the first round of worms in her system. Then as the worms in her system go through their 2 week life cycle (from baby worms to adult worms that you see in the poop) they should be treated again as a re-emergence of worms is seen. So the deworming schedule that I follow to ensure all worms (baby's and adults) are gone is as follows: 1) Deworm today 2) Deworm again in 3 days 3) Deworm again in 2 weeks But technically and most of the time you can get away with just doing #'s 1, and 3.
