My dog won't eat dry kibble. What can I mix with it or train her?

It's a big problem but what you can try and do is to mix the dry food with some meat, start with a lot of meat (70%) and a small amount of dry food. every day put a little bit more dry food and less meat, over 2-3 weeks you should remain with dry food only. hopefully you will get some good results.

Mix a teaspoon or two of canned food in with the kibble. Leave it down for 20-30 minutes before picking it up whether they have eaten or not. Repeat this at the next mealtime. Do not offer any food between meals. Be consistent, dogs thrive on routine. Be firm, they will not starve.

Some dogs can be very picky, and if Brownie enjoys eating food with a little wet food mixed in, that's not a problem. Many brands of dry dog food also carry equivalent wet foods, and you can mix that in while still providing a balanced diet that is healthy for Brownie to eat. If you do add in wet food, you may just want to decrease the amount of dry food slightly to account for the increase in calories for adding extras.

This specific diet is very palatable and also very good in terms of nutrition. You could also consider adding dog grade gravy to her food which may improve her appetite. I would try to very gradually mix in the dry food into her wet diet, for example each day feed a bit more kibble and less wet food. I generally advise against raw diets, as they can harbour bacteria and cause serious illness in both dogs and the people who handle the food. Try sticking to commercial kibble and wet food, with the goal of transitioning onto kibble over time. Experiment with different brands, and hopefully you will find something that she likes! If she seems at all unwell (low energy, vomiting, diarrhea), then I would worry about a medical cause for the low appetite, and recommend taking her to the vet. They can check for things like a gut infection, parasites, food allergies, etc. I hope this helps, and that Stela is feeling well!

I would mix the wet and dry food together, and over the course of two weeks, slowly decrease the amount of wet food and increase the amount of dry food so Maxine is eating the dry food only. Start off with 75% wet and 25% dry, and feed that for a few days. Then give her 50% wet and 50% day, feed for a couple of days. After that, give her 25% wet and 75% dry, again feeding for a couple of days. Finally, give her 100% dry, and that should encourage her to eat the dry only.
