My dog has a whitehead pimple on her neck. What can I do at home?

Without a [physical exam](https://www.petcoach.co/article/what-does-your-veterinarian-look-for-during-a-physical-exam), I can't say for certain what they are, however, I can tell you that small bumps on the skin which are filled with pus are called pustules. These can be caused by a bacteria infection of the hair follicles (bacterial folliculitis), autoimmune diseases, a bacterial skin infection ([pyoderma](https://www.petcoach.co/article/staphylococcal-pyoderma-a-common-skin-infection-in-dogs-pup/)), a fungal skin infection among others. I would recommend taking Sadie to the vet to determine the cause of the pustules, and to prescribe the proper treatment. In the meantime, do not squeeze them or try to pop them, as you could potentially spread infection. An [e-collar](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/well-and-good-e-collar) (cone) can be used to prevent lickign or chewing until she sees the doctor.

It's hard to see the growth well from your picture and sadly a lot of skin growths can look the same, even benign vs cancerous ones. I always recommend that any new growths be evaluated by your Vet. Possible causes are: a skin infection, sebaceous adenoma, a wound or abscess, histiocytoma, mast cell tumor, etc. You can start with shaving the fur away from the growth, cleaning it twice daily with mild soap and water and then applying a triple antibiotic cream twice daily. If Suzie is licking the area use an E-collar to prevent that. If the area doesn't improve in a few days then have your Vet examine it. I hope this helps and I wish Suzie the best!

If you can shave the fur away and clean the area twice daily with warm and mild soap then apply a topical antibacterial cream twice daily it may help. If the area gets worse or isn't starting to improve with a week you should have her seen by a Vet. Most exams and antibiotics shouldn't be that expensive. I am sorry to hear about your concern for Saki. It is a bit difficult to really see the lesion in these photos. If it looks like a whitehead pimple (has a whitish colored center) you can try cleaning it with an antibacterial soap such as Hibiclens (available at most drug stores) and applying a topical antibiotic ointment twice daily. If it is not resolving within a week or if it is increasing in size a vet visit is recommended. You can also try warm compresses for 15 minutes a few times a day if it looks like it might come to a head and drain. If it is more of a solid mass then it could be a small tumor. We can have benign (non harmful) tumors of the skin, but with any potential tumor it is safest to have your vet examine the area.

Hi! That can be an abscess (collection of pus inside, pretty similar to a pimple) or it can be other skin related issue. Keep your eyes if it's painful, hard and If it is growing. Try to find any other similar wound in other parts of the body. I recommended take to your vet, so they can have a good look, clip and clean. Your dog may need some antibiotic, or it might goes off by its own. Good luck! Remember, If its growing, just take to your vet.

I don't think this is a serious issue at this point. It looks like a pustule/pimple which may be from an ingrown hair or she may have had an insect bite. You can use these medicated pads on the affected area once a day. Poor Ginger! I cannot say for sure without seeing her in person, but this looks like a tooth root abscess. I would continue the warm compresses until you are able to get her seen by your vet. If this is the cause, your vet will likely put her on some antibiotics and also recommend to have the tooth causing the issue to be extracted. I hope this helps and she starts to feel better soon!
