My dog has an oozing, growing pimple-like growth. What to do?

This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. There is no way of knowing what it is just based on its appearance. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is very hard to say without seeing Safire. It sounds like it could be a cyst (a large pimple). It is common for them to fill and burst. I recommend showing it to your vet at your next visit. They will stick a needle in it and look at the cells under the microscope to determine. The area in the picture looks like an area of what I would call excoriation or skin irritation usually seen when a dog scratches an area extensively due to itching. The yellowish area can be a pimple or what we call a pustule (a pimple containing pus). Pimples and pustules are usually raised lesions, extending up from the skin. It's a little difficult making out much detail in the picture. Sometimes damaged areas of skin turn yellowish like that and are usually flat in appearance, not raised up like a pimple/pustule. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The pinker skin growths in your first picture tend to be benign and are sebaceous adenomas. For some reason some dogs grow a lot of them. The pinker bump in her groin could be the same type of growth or different. If you never noticed it before and she is now licking it it could be infected or a mast cell tumor. The darker spots are darken skin from licking. It could also be a skin infection but it is hard to tell from just pictures. My recommendation is to have your Vet examine that larger lump and the skin in her groin. She may just need antibiotics and itch relief but worse case she may need the growth removed if it is suspicious. I wish Honey the best!

This infection may be from bacteria, fungus or both. I would recommend having her examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.
