My dog has white gums, red spots, and won't eat. Is it an emergency?

Oh no. Poor Sawyer. Yes this is considered to potentially be an emergency situation. These red blotchy areas are called petechiae and this could indicate a spontaneous bleeding disorder or platelet malfunction. I would recommend taking Sawyer in to an ER vet to have blood testing done and appropriate treatment depending on blood analysis findings. White gums are a sign of shock or anemia. Anemia can be from internal bleeding or destruction of the red blood cells. Shock could be from pancreatitis or a blockage from ingestion of a foreign body. He needs to be re-examined and have blood work and X-rays done. I wish you all the best!

Hello. I am sorry that Dixie is not doing well. If her gums are white this is an immediate emergency. You should take her to the vet immediately. White gums indicate that she cannot circulate her blood properly through her body which is either due to blood loss (internal bleeding from trauma, a tumor, auto-immune disease or rat poison), heart disease, a twisted stomach blocking blood flow back to the heart from the body, or could be a sign of pain or dehydration. If she is acting lethargic, quiet, not herself, and having white gums I would take her to an emergency clinic immediately. I hope Dixie feels better soon.

Poor Pinon! It could be he is sick, but I'm concerned that his mouth is not as pink as usual. It could mean bleeding in his body is occurring or he is not getting enough oxygen. I would take him into a vet immediately to get checked out. Best of luck.

It sounds like Bae may be seriously ill, so I would recommend taking him to an emergency clinic tonight to be seen. If this isn't possible, then I would take him to your regular veterinarian first thing in the morning.
