My dog is losing weight, thirsty, and has a hard stomach. What should I do?

I would recommend having your dog seen as soon as possible if her symptoms are not improving tomorrow, even if this means taking her in to another vet or an emergency vet. Diseases we worry about with these symptoms include Cushings Disease (where the adrenal glands produce too much steroids), diabetes, kidney disease and liver disease. Some of these conditions can worsen quickly and become life threatening so having her examined and having bloodwork and urinalysis done as soon as possible to determine the underlying cause is the safest way to proceed.

I am concerned that Marley is uncontrollable thirsty and is losing weight. He could have an infection, kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, etc. so he should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. It could be Chase has a medical illness such as diabetes causing him to drink more but lose weight. This red bump could be a benign growth or malignant. I'd take him into a vet today or tomorrow to get these things checked out. If he does have diabetes, he can be treated with insulin. Best of luck.

I would be very concerned about that amount of weight loss and I doubt it would be related to fleas alone. Kidney disease, diabetes or certain types of cancer could cause weight loss and an increase in water consumption. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian- they may recommend checking some blood work after a physical exam.

Poor Luckie, she sounds sick. If she is nauseous, that could cause her to lick her lips and drink lots of water. Being lethargic and not moving around can mean she has a fever or is in pain. Luckie may have an issue inside the GI tract (intestines) causing nausea or trouble with how her organs, particularly kidneys and liver are functioning as the cause for these symptoms. Increased thirst and urination as well as weight loss can indicate diabetes, kidney disease, a liver problem or even a uterine infection. Regardless, she will need treatment. The rodenticide toxin you mentioned typically causes a bleeding disorder. While it is possible she could have eaten some, her signs are not consistent with bleeding. You need to take her back to the vet ASAP in order to get this checked, first the vet will need to do a blood test to try and find out what is causing those symptoms, the lump will need to be checked and analyzed as well.
