My puppy gets annoyed by her harness. Can she wear it all day?

I would not leave your puppy in a harness when you are not with him. I always advise removing collars, harnesses and leashes when your dog is home. This is both more comfortable for your dog and a safer way to leave them unattended. There is a chance they could caught in something while running around or jumping at home.

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I don't see any reason not to leave them on other than they will probably chew each other's harnesses and cause damage to them. This could be a big problem since harnesses are not cheap. Other than that, I think it's ok to leave them on. Good luck

Quite honestly it all depends upon the shape of your dog. Some harnesses tend to fit longer dogs vs stouter dog vs deep chested vs narrow shaped dogs. I would recommend bring your dog to the pet store and having her try on several different varieties to see which fits most comfortably. Most importantly, ask yourself if this harness provides proper support and will not fall off when being used for walking.

Sounds like the collar may still be pretty scary for your pup! Some puppies may also just be very excited and become wiggly or nip/chew on you in excitement. Here are a few things you can do: Leave the collar/harness on the floor and let your puppy approach it first on his own. Toss a treat and give lots of praise any time he shows interest in it or sniffs it. Practice handling your puppy around the neck and shoulders by petting, playing with, cuddling, etc and giving a favorite treat and praise every time you do this so he begins to associate it with a positive experience. Practice snapping a collar/harness closed next to your pup but not on him, offering a treat and praise every time he is curious about it. Practice sitting while placing the collar or harness on, and giving a treat every time you do. If puppy becomes too wiggly or excited, take a break and try again in a few minutes. Offer extra treas and lots of praise when he successfully puts on and wear the collar, even if it's only for a few minutes.

Your town may require that dogs wear license tags at all times, so whenever Snowball is outdoors she should have a collar with the tag on it . . . I would also recommend an ID tag in case she gets lost. However, you can attach the tags to the vest or leash as well. The only problem with that solution is if she gets out by mistake and has neither vest nor leash on. If it is the type of collar that you can manipulate with one hand, you can try holding a treat in the other hand while you get it off. But I am concerned that, at nine months old, she is aggressive with you. I would suggest that she attend a dog obedience class so you can learn to balance your relationship with her. While I always think a trainer is a good idea, I think you might be able to get Piper used to the collar by putting it on her at meal time or when she is playing with a favorite toy. Use it for short periods of time multiple times a day and take it off is she seems very upset. She’ll figure it out with time.

If the collar has Rocky's tags and ID attached to or on the collar itself, you'll want to keep this on him whenever he is out of the house (at parks, walks, day care, or even the back yard ) in case Rocky gets out or escapes. It is up to you whether you'd like to keep a collar on Rocky while inside the home, but it may be a good idea in case of an emergency or in case he slips out on accident. I hope this helps!
