My dog's legs are weak and wobbly. Should I give a calcium supplement?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 24 lbs

can I give my dog Calcium Lactate + Vitamin D3 325mg/400IU tablet? he had a severe diarrhea a week ago but his appetite is going back to normal after a week long of treatment with antibiotic and dextrose powder. but his legs are quite jelly still, he walks like a very old man. sometimes inch by inch. would the calcium supplement help? when I massage his legs, it doesn't seem like he's hurt or anything. no fracture whatsoever. what could possibly the reason? thank you.

I would not give any supplements to Cholo. This could be way more vitamin D than he needs and could cause other problems. It sounds like he has arthritis pain. Glucosamine chindroitin is ok but he may need something stronger that he would get from a vet. Good luck and kisses to Cholo!
