My dog is weak, not eating, and has swollen feet. What should I do?

With these symptoms, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Dangly so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. With the swollen leg and vomiting, there could be a systemic illness or infection going on. I would have his blood tested and have x-rays taken of the leg and abdomen. I would recommend having x-rays taken of the toe to make sure the toe is not broken. If there is no broken bones, then I worry about a bacterial infection and he may need to be placed on oral antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. His warm feeling body could indicate an internal infection or inflammatory disorder, and his panting and swollen stomach could indicate underlying heart disease, an infection, or even cancer has to be considered here. I would highly recommend taking him in to your vet to have some testing done as soon as possible. The vet needs to do some bloodwork analysis and an x-ray to find out the underlying cause for his symptoms, since there are several disease processes that can cause the same symptoms. However, just like you pointed out, there may be a foreign body stuck in there or something else causing an infection. I recommend that you have Tank evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly. Antibiotics can be started and they can also check to see if there is something stuck there that they can remove to provide comfort and also prevent the infection from reoccurring. This is likely causing Savage a great deal of pain and discomfort and further evaluation and treatment of this will require veterinary treatment. Your veterinarian would be able to appropriately medicate him for pain control and possibly sedate him so that the paw can be carefully inspected to look for possible reasons that can result in swelling such as a foreign body stuck in the paw. Based on your description, I would recommend having a veterinarian recheck Duke so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. The leg swelling could be due to an injury or a systemic illness. The coughing could be related to heart disease, respiratory disease, infection, allergies, etc. The coughing and leg swelling could also be related to heart disease. I would recommend chest x-rays to assess the heart and running what we call a ProBNP test to check and see if Duke is in heart failure. The sooner he is seen the better. Hi and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I am sorry Dollar is unwell and hope to give you some direction for how he feels. There are multiple causes for leg swelling and lameness. These can range from injury to limb, tick borne disease, HOD (a disease where the bone "grows too fast"), injury to the soft tissue structures of the limb (ie tendons), wound on the limb, immune-mediated diseases or even an abnormality with the bone or cartilage. His panting could be from discomfort or pain. I am concerned that this is progressive. Unfortunately there are not any over the counter medications that can help without potentially causing damage to other parts of his body. As this has not resolved and is progressive your local veterinarian may be able to do a complete physical exam and localize the area of concern and recommend x-rays. Good luck with Dollar!
