Is it okay my dog only walks every other day since he potties inside?

As long as Bruno is eating a healthy diet and is not eating too much (is maintaining a healthy weight) and you are able to get him out for a walk at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes or so, I don't see any reason to fear he will die early due to this walk routine. Waling provides both exercise, an energy outlet and entertainment. Imagine how bored you would be if you were always inside? It's ok if you don't walk Azumi every day but try to as much as possible. I hope this helps.

This can be a normal reaction to dogs who are used to pottying in the backyard, off leash. When you walk them and they’re on a leash they become anxious and nervous about going to the bathroom out in the open and on the leash. My best advice for you is to try and walk him frequently so he gets used to being on the leash. If he is able to hold his urine and bowel movements then it shouldn’t be a big issue. He will need to lease go to the bathroom every 10 to 12 hours. When you do walk him on the leash and he potties use lots of positive reinforcement like praise and treats to let him know you are proud of him and did a good job. If once a day works for him and he is at a healthy weight then that is fine. If you think he may need to lose some weight then more frequent walks such as twice or three times a day would be better. Half an hour once a day is not enough, it should be at least double that. I would still recommend taking him out, even in the snow, for a very short time to d his business, it's unhealthy for a dog to get used doing it in the bathroom

If this is a relatively new problem, Nikki may have an underlying medical condition - like a urinary tract infection. I suggest you have her examined by your vet and have a urine test done to check for infection or other underlying medical problem. If you can rule out a medical problem then you can assume it is behavioral, in which case, you should consult with a professional, in-home dog trainer. It is very hard to potty train a dog this age without professional help.

Hi there and thank you for using PetCoach to address your concern. Bo is still quite young and him urinating inside is something that he should eventually grow out with training. Positive reinforcement with treats whenever he urinates outside and defecates outside will help reinforce him going outside. I've had great success with recommending Fresh Patch. This is a patch of grass in a cardboard box with absorbent material underneath the grass and you place this in the house. Bo will use this real grass to go to the bathroom short term. I would recommend starting by placing the grass in the area where he has been urinating and then gradually moving the patch of grass closer and closer to the door to the outside until eventually the grass patch is outside of the house and he is using it there.
