My dog is vomiting but seems okay. What can I give to settle his stomach?

I don’t recommend pepto in dogs. It doesn’t seem to do much and some dogs are sensitive to the aspirin component. You can do boiled chicken and cooked white rice, toast without butter, apple sauce, and other bland white human foods. If he isn’t back to normal in a day or two, it would be best to have him checked out by a vet.

No, lease do not give any over the counter meds and definitely no oatmeal. withhold food for 8 hours and then offer him boneless boiled chicken and rice every 6 hours in small quantities, if the diarrhoea is getting better continue for 2-3 days with this diet. if it is not getting better- take him to the vet to get treated.

Poor Huck! It could be he's vomiting for being car sick but it could also be he has a stomach illness. Unfortunately there are no OTC medications you can give him to settle his stomach, but I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps. Feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If he refuses to eat the bland diet, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Hello. Yes, you can give Priat some plain yogurt to see if this helps to settle his stomach. You also want to feed him a bland diet of 25% boiled chicken & 75% white rice or low fat cottage cheese. Feed him only small amounts ( no more than a cup ) every 3-4 hours until you are sure he is no longer vomiting. Hopefully, this is just a case of acute gastritis & most pets are feeling better in 12-24 hours. If not, please see your veterinarian for further diagnostics & treatments. Withhold food for 12 hours then offer him boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if he is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put him back gradually on his normal food. If he seems very lethargic or vomiting, take him to the vet to get treatment right away as he might develop GDV (gastric dilatation).
