My dog is vomiting, passing out, and has black poop. What should I do?

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 3 days old | 6 lbs

Dog has been vomiting, passing out, loss of appetite, diarrhea, excessive drooling, shortness of breath, red eye, laziness & black poop. What at home treatment can be given until we're able to get her to the vet?

This is an emergency. You should not wait until you can take her to a vet tomorrow. You need to take AVA to an emergency room now. This could be a life threatening intoxication. Black poop is a sign of intestinal bleeding, and the shortness of breath could be a sign of significant blood loss. If you do not know where to find an emergency service call your vet's number or any vet's number in your area and you should get emergency information from the answering service.

Yes, this is a bad sign as this indicates bleeding in the upper GI tract. It's concerning that Mochi is vomiting and having bloody diarrhea. This could be caused by hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, eating something toxic, trauma to the GI tract, a foreign body, or parvovirus if she isn't fully vaccinated. When a dog is having bloody diarrhea and vomiting, it's time to see a vet immediately. The vet can diagnose what is causing her symptoms so she can be treated. Please take her into an ER vet clinic if your regular vet is closed for the day; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

In the case of an unspayed female dog , pyometra (a potentially fatal infection of the uterus) is a possibility as well, and this is very concerning. Please have Cassie seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible, as vomiting and possible blood in the stool can lead to dehydration and anemia, and can be very dangerous if left untreated. I recommend taking in a fecal sample from Cassie to your vet as well, as that may aid them in making a diagnosis. Good luck, and I hope she feels better soon!

Labored breathing and vomiting are very concerning signs. In an older, large-breed dog like your girl, I would be worried about bloat as a possible cause of her symptoms - this can be a life-threatening emergency, so needs to be treated right away. Many other things can also cause vomiting, including pancreatitis, liver or kidney disease, exposure to something toxic, or an intestinal obstruction. Based on your description, I would recommend taking her to the emergency vet tonight - she may have a serious problem that can't wait until morning.

My 3-month-old puppy is vomiting and has black poop. What's wrong?

It sounds as Roxy is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

Why is my dog vomiting and pooping blood after a new probiotic?

Poor pup! Yes the black color of his poop could be from the activated charcoal, but the red in his poop indicates blood. If he was pooping all night, he could have irritation in his intestinal tract, causing the blood. That being said, blood in the poop is always concerning. Add onto it he's been up all night vomiting and pooping. I'm worried that he's dehydrated from all of this. He sounds pretty sick and I think he needs to see a vet immediately. Bloody diarrhea can be very serious, especially if the dog has no energy, and this is not something that should be attempted to be treated at home. Allie needs veterinary care to determine what is causing this bleeding so she can be treated correctly.
