My dog is vomiting, not eating, breathing hard. Is it an emergency?

Labored breathing and vomiting are very concerning signs. In an older, large-breed dog like your girl, I would be worried about bloat as a possible cause of her symptoms - this can be a life-threatening emergency, so needs to be treated right away. Many other things can also cause vomiting, including pancreatitis, liver or kidney disease, exposure to something toxic, or an intestinal obstruction. Based on your description, I would recommend taking her to the emergency vet tonight - she may have a serious problem that can't wait until morning.

I sam so sorry that she’s not doing well. From what you describe, I’m very concerned about her and you need to seek emergency veterinary care immediately. Call your vet’s office even if they are closed—they likely have a recording for either how to contact the vet in case of an emergency, or information for the nearest vet clinic. There are many possible causes for what’s going on, but it sounds like at the very least she needs some IV fluids and some lab work and possible X-rays may be needed. I am so sorry there isn’t something I can suggest you do for her at home at this point, but if she’s just lying there, she seems cold, and her breathing is labored, you have got to get her to a vet. Karma needs to be examined by a vet right away, especially if she is breathing heavy. She could have pancreatitis, gastritis/enteritis, infection, parasite, foreign body, etc. Your vet can do an examination, lab-work, and take an x-ray to help diagnose and then determine the best way to treat. She may need an anti-vomiting medication, antibiotic, fluids, and other medications, depending on the cause. Please call your vet and have her examined so treatment can be started.

A complete physical exam by your veterinarian or at the nearest veterinary ER would be recommended if symptoms persist for more than 24 hours. Labored breathing and chronic vomiting are both very serious clinical signs especially when seen in concert with one another. If vomiting occurs during a labored breathing episode, Bachy could potentially aspirate the vomit and cause a serious case of pneumonia. I don't think this is something that should wait until the morning. You should give a call to your local ER vet and see what they think of the situation. They may recommend bringing him in for some oxygen therapy and diagnostic work up. I understand that you only just adopted him yesterday, but this is definitely the best possible thing to do for him at this moment.

If she is having a hard time breathing, I would recommend having a veterinarian examining her sooner than in the morning. She may have a severe case of pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) from eating all of that food and may need to be hospitalized for treatment. This not good . It appears Chiquita is in respiratory distress and that is always an emergency. Please take her to an emergency room (Pet ER) right away. The signs are too unspecific to pinpoint a cause over the internet. The vet will want to do blood tests and a chest x-ray to determine why Chiquita can't breathe normally and is weak.
