My dog is vomiting and can't drink. Can I wait until morning?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Fell Terrier | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 6 months old | 13.4 lbs

An emergency vet visit costs a lot of money and is an hour drive away. I had previously asked if gunner could be too far along with worms and Dr Melanie recommends taking him in. Is is life threatening? Is it possible to wait til morning as it is getting close to midnight??

My concerned about Gunner is his symptoms. Without seeing him in person, I cannot say he will be ok. You said that he is puking, cannot keep anything down including water. That tells me he is quite sick, and whenever a dog cannot keep down water, it's an emergency. He could easily become dehydrated from this vomiting, leading to worse problems. Based on this, it's best for him to see a vet now.
