Why are my dogs throwing up with bloody stools after eating IAMS?

There are a number of illness that can cause a dog to have blood in the stool, such as parvovirus, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, GI tumors, trauma or a foreign body in the GI tract, GI ulcers, or ingesting something toxic. If your dog ate something toxic or has GI tumors that have spread, those could certainly lead to seizures. The only way to know for sure what is causing blood in the stool and seizures is to have your dog seen by a vet, and I recommend having it seen asap. Best of lucK!

Vomiting and bloody stools can occur from many conditions such as foreign body ingestion and obstruction, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. If he is having seizures that make this very serious as this is possibly unrelated and could be seen with conditions such as low blood sugar from vomiting, brain inflammation, epilepsy, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Bruno evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. This will likely require bloodwork and abdominal imaging in terms of diagnostics and possibly an MRI. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least your veterinarian could start him on medications to make him feel better. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to prevent dehydration. If Auggie hasn't had a stool sample checked it would probably be helpful to rule out intestinal parasites. His symptoms could also be caused by inflammatory bowel disease or a food sensitivity. If you've seen three different vets and feel that you're not making progress with Auggie you could have your vet refer you to an internal medicine specialist.

I'm sorry that Azazel isn't feeling well! Bloody stools in a young dog can be caused by IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, or much less commonly a growth or trauma. Eating a large amount of his normal food would not, by itself, cause bloody stools. If his stool looks like raspberry jam, I would recommend taking him to the vet or an emergency clinic right away. If there are just streaks of blood on the outside of his bowel movements, and he's actually totally normal (eating, drinking, good energy, has pink gums) it's not an emergency just yet. In that case, I would recommend feeding him a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice and giving him a day to see if it resolves. If after a second day (so 48 hours total) he's still have blood stool or is having diarrhea, it would be wise to have him checked out at your regular vet. I am very sorry to hear that your dogs are experiencing these problems, I am sure it is very unsettling for you both. There are a number of potential causes of such clinical signs, including dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, parasite infestation, infection, and ingestion of a toxin or poison. Because you have only noticed these signs over the course of a few days I would continue to monitor them at home. Rest their gastrointestinal tracts by holding back food for a few hours. Then you can continue with a bland and easily digested food of the boiled chicken breast and white rice diet and provide plenty of fresh water. I also find that boiled, mashed skinless sweet potato is helpful for diarrhea. If they do not improve, has profuse vomiting or diarrhea, you notice fresh blood, they seems lethargic, in pain or depressed I would advise a trip to the veterinarian. Blood in the stool, even if it seems to "go away" and come back later, is never normal. The fact that it's accompanied by diarrhea suggests colitis, or inflammation of the colon, as opposed to some type of bleeding mass in the rectum or colon. Colitis can have a number of causes, including dietary indiscretion (eating something rotten or non-food), parasites, food allergies/food sensitivities, inflammatory bowel disease, or infection. Leah may improve with a diet change, perhaps a more digestible diet specifically for gastrointestinal problems. To assume it's a "tummy issue" could be to ignore causes that are treatable, and at this point she's not only having diarrhea but she also lost her appetite. It's been three days and she's not improving, so I recommend having her seen by her vet for labwork to include parasite testing, blood work, and urinalysis for starters. If all is normal consider a bland diet (as recommended above), and a probiotic supplement. Ultimately, she may need to have biopsies taken to diagnose the exact cause.

Bright red blood in the feces is not normal, and could be caused by hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, a foreign body, eating something rotten, or cancer. Given Cody's age and the fact that he was vomiting previously, it would be best for him to see an emergency vet in my opinion.
