What causes my 8-month-old chihuahua to vomit only at night?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Sophie! I always worry when older dogs start getting sick. I recommend taking Sophie to the Vet 12 hour fasted for an exam. Bring a stool and urine sample. After the exam I would take belly X-ray and run full blood and urine testing. Causes of vomiting are: intestinal parasites, foreign body (she ate something that is stuck and require surgery to remove), kidney or liver failure, cancer, pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, food allergy or intolerance, dietary indiscretion. Vomiting can be caused by intestinal parasites, intestinal blockage, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, parvovirus if not fully vaccinated, among other things. Because you've given Nacho a bland diet for a day and he is still vomiting, I recommend you get him in to your veterinarian when they are open. The vet will be able to perform bloodwork and X-rays and figure out why Nacho is vomiting.

Poor Nunu . Sometimes it is hard to know why a puppy with vomit. IT is possible in such a young dog she ate something she should not of or has parasites. I would recommend taking her to a vet to make sure she is parasite free because she is a puppy. Otherwise I would monitor it at home. If she vomits more than she should go to a vet to make sure she does not have a viral or bacterial infection.. Hope that helps

I recommend to have some diagnostics. If your vet seems unwilling to do this, I recommend to get a second opinion. Chronic vomiting is not normal and can indicate many things including an ulcer in the stomach, a foreign object in the stomach, a tumor in the stomach, GI parasites, inflammatory bowel disease or even something like kidney disease.
