My puppy vomited yellow after Nexgard/Heartgard. Is it meds or worms?

Her condition is not normal, and I would recommend following-up with your veterinarian this morning as soon as they open for a reassessment appointment. She may need some labs ran to ensure nothing major is wrong internally which is something for you to discuss with your vet. At a minimum, it is likely she will need anti-nausea medication as well as some medications to help with the diarrhea. If left untreated, she could become very dehydrated which would make her extremely sick. It is much better to get on top of these things before they become a bigger problem. You did not mess up, its ok! They are both for fleas but work in different ways. Nexgard will kill the adult fleas (as well as ticks). However adult fleas are only a small part of the problem when it comes to fleas, because the eggs that may have been laid by the adult fleas will sprinkle off your dog, hatch in your carpet (eww I know) and the baby larvae will find their way back onto your dog (or other pets, or even you in very severe infestations). Sentinel renders the eggs laid by fleas unable to hatch. This article below may help explain this. Its possible that the medications may have contributed to her diarrhea today. If she is still eating, is playful and acting normally, see how she is in the morning, and let your vet know she had some diarrhea. Your vet may advise against giving them at the same time if he or she suspects that may have contributed. But the sort answer here it, you did not mess up. There isn’t a specific medication to counteract the effects, just supportive care. I would contact your vet so they can report the reaction to the company. Sadly, as with any medication, there is potential for negative side effects with Bexgard. It is generally very well tolerated and it is very effective. Vomiting and diarrhea are reported side effects in the drug insert provided by the company. I have never heard of frequent ruination. It sounds like Blitz should have a recheck to make sure he is stable and to provide supportive medications for his symptoms. I wish you both the best!

Hi,t hanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Dewowmers have the potential to cause an upset stomach such as vomit, diarrhea and decreased appetite. Though I am worried something else is going on since you lost a puppy recently. I worry most about parvo virus in puppies this age, especially if they are yet to be vaccinated. I would have this puppy seen today by your Vet and tested for parvo virus as it is VERY contagious and if it is the cause it will likely affect the entire litter. If it isn't parvo the Vet can at least get this puppy feeling better and prevent dehydration. Good luck!

Depending on the stage of infection, it can take several days for all of the adult worms to die and be passed in the feces. It is normal to see different types of worms in the feces, as this product kills several types of worms, which are very common in puppies. If you notice that your puppy is continuing to have diarrhea after several days, I recommend bringing a stool sample from Blaze to your vet to determine which parasites are present. Hello. Heartguard is generally considered very safe, even in a dog with a current heart worm infection. If there was a reaction due to the presence of heartworms, it is almost always some kind of pulmonary event. So, it is possible that he has just developed a sensitivity or had a one off reaction to the Heartguard. Do think about having Buster tested before giving another pill, & do try to remember to give it every 30 days. All heartworm medications do a great job, but only if doses are not skipped, especially for dogs living in warmer climates.
