Why does my dog vomit white foam daily for a month but seem fine?

If she seems to be doing better now and the vomiting has resolved, it should be fine to continue with the current plan of giving her small amounts of i/d for the next 2-3 days before gradually switching back to her regular diet. If she's still vomiting despite the Pepcid and bland diet, then I would say she definitely needs a vet visit at this point to determine what is causing her symptoms. She may have an intestinal obstruction, pancreatitis, or some type of systemic illness like liver or kidney disease. Your veterinarian can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment depending on what is found.

With Thor's age and these symptoms, I am concerned that there may be something going on systemically (liver disease, kidney disease, infection, etc.). With these symptoms, I would recommend having Thor examined by a veterinarian and having his blood tested to make sure his organ function is within normal limits. If you recently switched diets, this could be dietary indiscretion. If you are unable to get to your vet right away, I would recommend starting a bland diet as outlined below and adding in a probiotic such as Purina Fortiflora. GENERAL INFORMATION A bland diet is a diet that is soft and highly digestible. It is low in fiber, fat and protein and is high in carbohydrates. Bland diets are generally composed of a single carbohydrate source and a single lean protein source. The most common bland diet is boiled rice and boiled lean chicken breast, without skin and bones. Transition back to the regular diet over a 1 week period. Start by adding 25% of the regular diet to 75% of the bland diet and feed that combination for 2 days. If stools continue to be firm then continue substituting the regular diet in 25% increments and feeding the combination in 2 day time intervals until the diet is 100% regular diet. Minimize treats for 1 week after moving the diet back to 100% regular diet.

Poor Finn! I would try to feed him a bland diet of plain boiled boneless, skinless chicken and white rice to see if this settles his tummy. If the vomiting is happening first thing in the morning before breakfast, it would be acid reflux. To remedy this you can try feeding him right before bedtime and right when you wake up. Acid reflux is from the acid building up in their stomach overnight when they go a long period without food. If these tricks don't help or he is showing any new symptoms, I would have your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to determine the cause and get him started on the proper meds to help him feel better. I hope this helps!

It sounds as Fatby is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

This much vomiting is not normal. Tifa needs to be seen by a vet for an exam as soon as possible. Please understand that vomiting is a very non-specific symptom. Almost anything can cause vomiting. Your vet needs to do an exam and maybe some testing (blood and/or x-rays) to figure out what is going on. I'm glad she is acting OK and you don't think her abdomen is painful, but no offense, you are not properly trained to palpate the abdomen correctly. The vet will need to do that and will be able to assess pain as well as feeling the integrity of the organs. The stomach itself is up under the ribcage and cannot be palpated. Dogs can act seemingly normal but still have something wrong underlying.

Blood work is always a good idea. He may have gastric reflux in which case it is best to feed him multiple small meals throughout the day to keep his stomach from being empty too long. You can also try a trial of Pepcid (famotidine), 5mg once a day in the evening before bed (so 1/2 of a 10mg tablet). Do this for 7-14 days and then see what happens. If no improvement I think you and your vet should do more testing to figure out what may be going on. If this does help, I suggest you consult with your vet about what you did and see what their recommendations are from there. It is not usually a good idea to keep them on famotidine daily forever as it will shut down the stomach's ability to produce any gastric acid which is not a good idea. As a side note, ground beef and steak are really high in fat (even the lean varieties) so I would stop feeding that. High fat diets can cause pancreatitis and vomiting. Once resolved, transition back to the regular dog food over 5 days. If the vomiting recurs, then I would recommend switching to a different food altogether. Many times the diet or something the pet ate can be contributed to vomiting. If the vomiting worsens or new clinical symptoms develop such as lethargy, diarrhea, abdominal pain, etc. then I would recommend having Adler examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.
