Is it safe to put my dog's vitamin E oil directly on their food?

Vitamin E can be used either orally or topically. Vitamin E normally comes in gel caps which are filled with liquid. For larger dogs, the capsule size may be appropriate to give the entire capsule by mouth. To administer a smaller amount orally, I normally recommend poking or cutting the capsule to open it and squirt the appropriate amount of liquid over your dog's food. You can use the same technique to apply it orally. You may also be able to find it in a liquid form which can make dosing it easier. I hope that was helpful. Hello, grapeseed oil is safe to use in dogs and can be found in products for coat and skin health. The quantities of Vitamin E in grapeseed oil are small. However you may easily calculate (based on how much Vitamin E is in the grapeseed oil product you're using) how much grapeseed oil you need to be equivalent to 400IU of vitamin E. It's fine to give dogs the human grade fish oil. Chloe can have 1,000 mg fish oil containing 300 mg of EPA/DHA combined for every 30 pounds of body weight. These pills are a little more than that, but it will be fine. She won't need vitamin E supplementation also. I hope this helps!

Trying a different brand may help, or placing the pill in a high value food such as cheese which is more likely to be gulped down without sniffing out the pill first. You may also have to give the pill manually. You can put oils such as vitamin E directly on the skin, however if you are using it for systemic benefits in addition to skin ones, it should be given orally.

Vitamin e and fish oils work synergistically to promote healthy skin and coat. I would only also suggest that you ensure you use supplements which are designed for pets. thwse are available at most pet stores.

Tocopherol is vitamin E and is often used as a food preservative since it prevents oxidation and therefore keeps food from becoming rancid. Vitamin E is an essential vitamin and a deficiency can cause steatitis (inflammation of fatty tissue) or neurologic problems. Vitamin E is considered to have a wide safety margin and there isn't much information on overdose, but bleeding disorders are possible.
