What can I give my dog for a urinary infection? Any home remedies?

If there is not a current infection and an infection was just treated, you can use cranberry supplementation to help maintain urinary tract health. Some UTI can result from or cause bladder stones as well. Unfortunately not as urinary tract infections must be confirmed by your local veterinarian. Stress related (idiopathic type of inflammation) infection and presence of crystals are the most common causes of it. Antibiotics may be needed. However, if there are signs of infection, like inflammation and purulent exudate, then you may want to consider treating with an appropriate antibiotic. If this is the first time an infection has been present your vet will likely recommend an empirical treatment with antibiotics. However, you could also culture the exidate to determine what organism specifically are growing and what antibiotic they are susceptible to.
