My dog's tummy hurts and is noisy. Can I feed her chicken and rice?

I typically recommend by 1 part chicken to 3 parts white rice. Give your dog a couple tablespoons, every few hours to start, and work up to about 1/4 cup every 4-6 hours as she tolerates things better. When your dog is eating well, start adding her dry food. If her signs don't resolve than she should be examined by a vet. She could have an infection or a parasite and your vet can prescribe medications to help.

If the signs are not persistent and are gradually resolving, there is no need for a veterinary consultation at this stage. Continue with the same diet in small portions for the next 48 hours. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, vomiting, lethargy or inappetence.

Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in Luna's normal diet. If she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Stop giving her food like carne burritos and bologna. They are not healthy for her and cause GI upset. She doesn't need bread either.

Hello. It was good that you put Lily's food up. A small fast of 8-12 hours will not hurt, then tomorrow feed her very small amounts of plain cooked chicken breast, plain cooked white rice (preferably not minute rice) , & small amounts of lo-fat cottage cheese. Try this for about 24 hours & if she seems to be perking up, start to add back her regular diet. If she still seems to be having issues, please see your veterinarian to have her evaluated. I wouldn't be surprised that this spicy chicken is the cause of the stomach rumbling. Dogs don't handle spice well, and it could be Zelda now has some stomach upset.
