Why is my dog tired, breathing shallow, and has a big stomach?

I would strongly recommend having Jackie seen by a veterinarian so that they can examine her and try to get to the bottom of what is causing her symptoms. Jackie could have had a seizure or stroke like event, or she could also be experiencing another systemic abnormality. Poor girl. She could have congestive heart disease, cancer, cushings disease or any kind of organ enlargement in her belly. I would recommend starting with a good vet exam and then possible radiographs and bloodwork to get her checked out and hopefully find the underlying cause for her symptoms. Your dog should be seen by a veterinarian immediately. It sounds like he may have a heart condition that is causing fluid buildup in his abdomen. This compresses the lungs, making it difficult to breathe. Your dog may need to be on a diuretic to help him clear that fluid and ease his breathing. But get him in to be seen right away. Your vet will do an exam, blood work and x-rays to determine the cause and suggest an effective treatment plan.

Cough can be caused by an infection, heart problem or lung condition, it is important to first know the cause before treating it as treatment is different from condition to another. in Tray's case it sounds a lot like a heart problem, i recommend taking him to the vet ASAP in order to get it checked and treated, an xray will be require to confirm this and several medications will be prescribed.

Fluid in the abdomen is usually caused by either heart failure, low blood protein levels, or cancer. Blood work should be done to check protein levels. A follow up appointment with your veterinarian soon is important, and more work up should be done to identify the cause. Poor Jack! It's quite serious that he has bloody poop, which can be caused by a foreign body, trauma to the intestinal tract, intestinal worms, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, and possibly GI tumors. Jack has to see a vet immediately, so I would take him into one now. If you don't want to assume financial responsibly for him, I would call the SPCA to come and get him. They can get him the medical treatment he needs, and can find him a home.
