My dog is constantly throwing up after a walk. What should I do?

It’s possible that something on the walk caused Michi’s stomach upset: there are many, many potential causes of vomiting in dogs. I don’t necessarily consider one episode of vomiting an urgent problem, but if the vomiting continues, if Michi’s appetite is significantly decreased for 24 hours or more, or if he develops diarrhea then you should head to a vet.

Poor Martin! I'm sorry to hear that he's sick. Vomiting can be caused by lots of different things. Some, like a mild upset stomach or eating something that didn't agree with him, are quite minor. Other possible causes are more serious, such as an intestinal obstruction, pancreatitis, ingestion of something toxic, or even parvo if Martin isn't fully vaccinated. To help determine how urgent the problem is, I usually judge this based on how the dog is acting otherwise. If Martin is still active and playful, interested in food and treats, and not having any other issues, then I would not consider this to be an emergency - in that case, you could opt to withhold food for the rest of the day today to give his stomach a chance to settle, then offer a small bland meal of plain boiled chicken and white rice this evening. Then, you can take him to your vet appointment tomorrow morning as planned. On the other hand, if he's acting depressed or lethargic, or isn't wanting to eat anything, I would be more concerned that something more serious may be wrong. In that case, it would be better to take him to an emergency vet today rather than waiting until tomorrow.

I'm so sorry to hear about Louie. I'm.very concerned about him as one of the dangers of vomit and diarrhoea is severe dehydration and then shock due to a lack of fluids. The body's electrolyte balance can also become very disturbed. The combination of this can lead to an incredibly weak animal that warrants immediate veterinary attention. I'm worried that Louie is very weak or is suffering a complication due to his illness. The only option in this scenario is to take him back to the vet for an examination and prepare yourselves that he will likely need to stay in for IV fluids and investigations.

I am sorry to hear that Wyatt is so ill. He needs to have some tests ran by your vet to determine his underlying illness right away so that we know what he needs to get well again. He may have a stomach ulcer, really upset stomach from something he ate, a foreign body obstruction, infection or any number of organ malfunctions. I would recommend fasting him for now to prevent any more vomiting episodes and offering him only small amounts of Pedialyte non flavored to keep him as hydrated as possible. You can offer him a liquid diet (Ensure or pet formulated one from your local pet store) to see if he will keep that down until you can get him in to your vet on tomorrow. Yes, i would definitely be taking odie in as soon as possible. It is likely he is dehydrated and nauseous and may need intravenous fluids alongside diagnosis. Obstruction from swallowing foreign bodies and severe gastroenteritis or pancreatitis would be high on the list of suspicions

Hi, I'm Dr. Johnson. Sorry to hear Stoli is sick. Causes of vomiting are: eating something gross (dirt?), foreign body, viral infections, pancreatitis, metabolic issues (kidney, liver, gall bladder problems) or intestinal disease. If he is lethargic it might be best to have him seen by a veterinarian. Options are to fast him, both water and food, for 12-24 hours then restart feeding as "sip and nibble" of a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger mixed with rice. Feed 1 cup total per day. If he continued to vomit while being fasted or after you restart feeding he should be seen by a Vet. They may take X-rays or do blood work. I wish Stoli the best of luck!

Vomiting can be observed with conditions such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction, among other possibilities. For this reason, I highly recommend that you have Bambi evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid he is likely becoming dehydrated. They would be able to check for these possibilities and also check his hydration status and give him medications to make him feel better. Good luck!
