My 2-year-old dog's testicles are not visible. What should I do?

One is, of course, an exploratory to look for abdominally retained testicles or inguinal testicles not palpable when he is awake. We do occasionally see bilateral cryptorchid males. The other way to detect this would be by blood tests. A baseline hormone test is done followed by a stimulation test to detect the presence of testicles. A single testosterone test is unreliable due to the cyclic nature of these hormone levels so a stimulation test is recommended. Good luck with Lucas.

I am afraid it is unlikely they will descend at this stage. Cryptorchidism in Dogs, or retained testicles is a condition which needs to be surgically treated. The testes normally descend into the scrotum while an animal is very young. For dogs the descent to the final scrotal position is expected to be complete by the time the puppy is two months old. It may occur later in some breeds, but rarely after the age of six months. I would suggest scheduleing an appointment with a different veterinarian to have Beerus examined and to make a treatment plan.

The anatomy appears incorrectly developed. Your pet may be a hermaphrodite. What you see there may actually be female genitalia that has inappropriately developed. In order to truly diagnose what is going on your pet should see a specialist. Abdominal ultrasound can be used to assess for undescended testicles. If the testicle is just under the skin on his belly he could have an undescended testicle. In puppies this can sometimes correct with age, but if he is 6 months or older it likely won’t drop anymore. The vet can surgically remove the testicle during a neuter surgery.

They should be both down by birth or by 4 months. It just means the vet will have to search for the retained testicle when he gets neutered. He should be neutered because it is a congenital or genetic disease and the testicle can become cancerous over time. I hope this helps!

It means Konan is a cryptorchid. One of his testicles hasn't descended. This can happen, but dogs with this condition should never be bred because it's genetic. I would have him neutered, and the vet can remove both testicles. I hope this helps!
