Can my dog take Temaril P for allergies and Amoxicillin together?

No, please don’t use them together. Temaril P has a low dose of prednisone in it and you don’t want to use prednisone with a non- steroidal medication. It could cause side effects including gastric ulcers or could damage the liver or kidneys. It’s safe to use Benadryl for allergies with Carprofen. Hello, thank you for your question about Sophie. Yes Temaril-P can be used for longer than 3-4 days if the veterinarian feels it is warranted. The tapering dose that was prescribed to you is important to prevent any side effects of the medication. Some side effects that can occur include GI upset (decreased appetite, vomiting, diarrhea) and increased drinking and urinating. If you begin to notice any of these side effects I would recommend reaching out to your veterinarian to see if a change in the medication schedule might be warranted. Hope this helps!

It may cause some drowsiness because the temeril-p already has an antihistamine in it but it sounds like that was the goal so no worries! Continue giving the Temeril P as prescribed. Temaril p is a combination antihistamine and steroid used to help with allergies. Some dogs have environmental allergies that are seasonal and based in exposure. This can be to things such as dust, pollen, grasses...things you can't control. They do make safer immunosuppressive medicine such as Apoquel that helps with this if needed

Apoquel use along with many other medications has been evaluated and antibiotics with Apoquel shouldn't have any drug interactions. So please go ahead and continue the Apoquel as directed for her allergies. I hope Rae recovers well from her surgery.

These medications can certainly be given on the same day. No concerns for drug interactions here whatsoever. Please also continue to monitor for any signs of GI upset however from the medications themselves, which includes vomiting, diarrhea or decreased appetite and notify your vet immediately if seen. Only a small percentage of pets will have an adverse reaction to these medications. Both medications should be gien after a small meal. Fighting secondary skin infections and allergies is tough. Drugs like prednisone and Apoquel are used to control inflammation. In some cases, we add a drug in an effort to taper prednisone if long term immunosuppression is needed. Ideally, long term immunosuppressives should be avoided but in some cases are needed. You should consider discussing referral to a veterinary dermatologist for intradermal skin testing.
