Found tapeworm in puppy poop. Can my cats, including kitten, get it?

Tapeworms need to go into a secondary host to spread. That means that cats get them from eating rodents and fleas, and you, your family and the other cats and dogs can't get them from being exposed to the segments. Please get Mr. Kitty treated for tapeworms and use a flea prevention product on all the animals to prevent them getting tapeworms from eating fleas. Oh no. This is a nuisance to deal with for sure. Tapeworms are contagious to people, but it would require ingesting (eating) a live worm to become infective. As long as you clean up the feces and use good hygiene (washing your hands and avoid putting hands in the mouth after touching your pet or any live worms), then you are less likely to infest yourself. Clean up the poop quickly and don’t let your pet around other dogs or cats to avoid transmission until you can get Coco treated. Best wishes and don’t forget to also get Coco on a good flea preventative (ie Bravecto, Nexgard, Simparica, Vectra etc) at your vet to avoid further infection with tapeworms. Take care.

These worms are contagious to other animals (cats) and humans if anyone ingestes the feces. Yes, intestinal worms can cause a puppy's tummy to rumble, and she certainly can pass them along to your other cats and dogs. The fat belly is an indication of worms, and if you got the deworming treatment from the shelter, more than likely it kills roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms. Tapeworms require a medication called praziquantel to kill, and that is available by prescription only from the vet. To keep your dogs and cats from getting worms themselves, you will need to give them deworming treatments as well. I recommend Panacur, which you can get from your vet's office. I also recommend Drontal, which contains the praziquantel I mentioned, and that is available by prescription from the vet. You will need to give your new puppy and your other animals another deworming treatment two weeks after the first to kill all the worms. After that, your cats and dogs should be dewormed every three months if they are over six months of age, and the new puppy should be dewormed monthly until she is six months of age. She can then be dewormed every three months thereafter. I hope this helps :-)

I would recommend getting a broad-spectrum dewormer for both your puppy and kitten. You can call your local vet to determine the best dewormer for your area. To test them officially you can bring that worm to your vet, along with a poop sample from both your puppy and kitten, and the vet will send the sample away to check for eggs of different types of worms. Yes, this is certainly possible - certain types of worms, such as roundworms and hookworms, can be passed from cats to humans through contact with infected feces (poop). It is contagious to other pets and people via ingestion of a live worm. You will need tapeworm specific dewormer such as Drontal or Praziquantel to rid this worm and a good flea preventative (Bravecto, Nexgard, Firstshield) is recommended.
