My dog's tail has a popped bump. Is it dog acne? Should I worry?

I would not be concerned about this. It looks to be either a papilloma wart or a histiocytoma (benign tumor) both of which are common in young dogs. Usually these things will go away on their own within 4 to 8 weeks. If it gets larger in that a time frame or by 8 weeks it has not gone away then he should see your vet. Hope this helps. I see what you mean about the bump, it could be canine acne, but it could also be a sebaceous cyst, a benign growth like a papilloma, or an infected area. Unfortunately without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain. I do not recommend squeezing it again, don't use any wipes on it, and just keep an eye on it. If it gets bigger, it starts to bother him (you see him rubbing his face on things or using his paw to rub his face), and/or any other concerning behavior such as a lethargy or a loss of appetite, he will need to see a vet. It would be a good idea to get it checked out to be safe, but it's not an emergency. I hope this helps!

This does seem rather small in size and could very well be an insect bite. Since it isn't really bothering him, I would recommend monitoring this for now to see if this will spontaneously resolve If it is still present after 2 weeks or worsens at any time, then its best to get your vet to take a look at this on physical exam. If Gabbana doesn't seem bothered by the spot you may just want to keep an eye on it for now. However if the area is itchy, changing in size or appearance rapidly, bleeds or oozes discharge, or is just bothersome to your pup, having a vet take a look at it is best. Keeping Gabbana from scratching or pawing at it with the use of an Elizabethan (cone) collar may also help it heal and prevent further injury.

It's quite possible that the little bump on Booboo's back is a cyst. While most cysts are benign (especially ones in young dogs), their size can fluctuate as they fill with fluid, rupture, then refill. When cysts rupture, they can cause little crusts or scabs on the surface of the skin. These lesions can become infected if a dog licks or scratches at the area, but most of the time, they don't cause any problems. I don't see evidence of infection in the picture. For now, I think it's reasonable to keep an eye on the area for changes. If you want to clean it with an antiseptic to err on the side of caution, Hibiclens and betadine are both good over the counter options, but be sure to rinse well afterwards. Unless this lesion gets larger, has more discharge, or irritates Booboo, I don't think you need to take a trip to the vet for this lesion alone. That said, be sure to mention it to your vet the next time Booboo is due for an exam so that they can check it out. I hope that everything goes well!

It sounds like he has a skin infection that needs to be treated again. Maybe he needed to stay on the antibiotics longer, either topical or oral. The bump could be related to the infection, a cyst, or a mass. It may respond to an antibiotic or your vet may need to biopsy or remove it to determine the exact cause. This growth needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Oliver to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.
