My dog has swollen testicles & constipation. Will neutering help?

Bruno could be a crytorchid, which means his testicle never descended. It could be in his abdomen. Given that he's not neutered, he could be having prostate problems causing constipation. If his prostate is enlarged, this could give him problems trying to pass feces. I'd take him into the vet in the morning to have this checked out. If he does have a problem with his prostate, neutering is part of the recommended treatment. Best of luck.

This could be caused by a local inflammation and possibly an infection. Persistent licking and rubbing can worsen the inflammation. A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly anti-inflammatory ointment are needed to solve the problem. At home, some zinc oxide ointment/cream (like sudocream) can be apply twice daily. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking (if any). I see that your dog is unneutered - one condition that can come on suddenly and be extremely painful is called testicular torsion. Basically, one of the testicles becomes twisted inside the scrotal sac, cutting off the blood supply and causing swelling and intense pain. Based on your description, I would be concerned about this possibility and would recommend getting your dog to a vet as soon as possible, since he is in a lot of distress and there is really nothing that can be done at home to help. Other possibilities would include a scrotal or testicular infection, a tumor, or even a scrotal hernia.

That is abnormal. He could have an infection or mass in the testicle. I recommend neutering him and sending the abnormal testicle for a biopsy to determine the diagnosis. Many of these anal tumors are fed by sexual hormones such as testosterone. They are dependent on the hormones the body produces naturally (testosterone is naturally produced in the testicles) which makes such tumors grow. If you remove the hormone producing testicles (neutering) the hormone-dependent tumor gets starved and its growth will at least slow down. So castration is definitely advised. Anesthesia nowadays is quite safe and castration is not such a severe surgery. It may give your dog a longer life at a good quality of life.
