My Chihuahua has a swollen, red, itchy bump on her neck. What is it?

Your Chihuahua has to see a vet as soon as possible. It is not normal that her body is red/purplish all over, and it could be that she is experiencing bleeding under the skin due to a bleeding or clot disorder. In addition, if she isn't spayed, her oversized nipple could be due to a mammary tumor. The large bump on her paw could be due to a cyst, benign tumor, or malignant tumor. I'm very concerned that her body is red/purplish and is getting worse, and she has to see a vet now. This bump could be a cyst, an abscess, a benign growth, or a malignant growth. Any suspicious bump should be checked out by a vet, especially since Princess has had behavior changes recently, which can indicate an illness. I'd take her into the vet in the morning.

If the bump was there, but is now gone, it may be that Bella had a minor allergic reaction to something, or had a scratch that healed up. Bumps and scrapes can turn red and scab, and may swell some if there is a skin infection underneath. If the bump went away, but then returned, or is growing/changing in size, it may be best to have a vet take a look. I am sorry to hear about Daisy! Due to the size of this lesion and the fact that it isn't improving, I would recommend taking Daisy to the vet for examination of this swelling. I would be concerned that we could have a bacterial infection like an abscess, that this could be a spider bite or other insect bite, or possibly even a mass/tumor. The vet can examine the area and may try to aspirate the swelling (use a small needle to remove any fluid present or collect cells that may help identify the cause of the swelling and the best treatment). Poor girl! This could be a number of things from a benign tumor, an infection, a cancerous tumor and much more. I would first put a cone collar on her to prevent her from licking it or it will only get worse. Since the bump is really swollen and obviously bothering her, I would have your vet take a look at it. Your vet will be able to determine what it is and recommend the best treatment for her. They will likely put her on antibiotics and may or may not recommend to have it surgically removed. It could also be an enlarged lymph node, a benign tumor, or a malignant tumor. This is definitely something that needs to be checked out by a vet. It looks very swollen and it likely bothers her. Tonight, I'd recommend feeding some canned food to her just in case it is dental problem and it hurts for her to chew dry food. You could also soak her dry food in warm water to soften it up.
