My dog has swollen paws, can't walk, and abnormal blood. What's wrong?

Ouch! Charlie's sores look like they are very inflamed and likely painful. I would recommend taking him in to your vet to have his skin and paws evaluated. He may need antibiotics for an infection as well as anti-inflammatory medication for pain and swelling. Some dogs need bandages as well to protect their feet when they walk from making sores like this worse and allowing them to heal.

I'm sorry to hear that Lucifer's paws are so swollen and bloody. Inflammation between the toes or paw pads can be due to a number of issues, including severe allergies, autoimmune conditions, bacterial and/or yeast infections, or abscesses from penetrating wounds. Regardless, swelling of the paws is quite uncomfortable. At this point, your best option is to take Lucifer to his vet for an exam. After an exam, your vet will likely recommend either some diagnostic testing or presumptive treatment with medications, depending on the underlying cause of this issue. Until your appointment, be sure to put an e-collar (cone) on Lucifer to prevent him from licking at his feet, as that will only make matters worse. I hope that he's on the mend soon!

That is quite a bit of swelling! I would recommend that Daisy get checked out by the vet. It’s hard to say without examining her if the licking and chewing was caused by the swelling or if it is a result. Allergies can cause excessive licking, inflammation or lymphatic flow issues can cause swelling, and treatments for all of these conditions will vary.

The paws are extremely swollen, it could be an infection or due to repetitive trauma, it could also be an allergic reaction or an insect bite. my recommendation would be to take her to your vet ASAP for treatment.

Protein loss typically occurs either though the GI tract or the kidneys, and will lead to edema as you are describing. The first step to figuring out where the protein is going is to do a urinalysis. If there are significant amounts of protein in the urine, this points to the kidneys as the source of the protein loss. Tick borne disease - most typically Lyme disease - will cause this, and treatment doesn't usually reverse this complication. Other causes of renal protein loss include glomerularnephritis and renal amyloidosis. These diseases must be diagnosed with a biopsy of the kidney, and typically have a poor prognosis. If there is no protein being lost in the urine, chances are good that the protein is being lost through the GI tract. These diseases can be diagnosed with a biopsy of the GI tract, but ultrasound examination of the intestines can provide a clue that this is what is going on. Typically these types of conditions respond to a diet change and sometimes treatment with steroids. I urge you to get Dixie examined by a veterinary internal medicine specialist, who can do some advanced diagnostics and figure out what can be done to help Dixie at this point.

This could be from an injury or this could be edema due to a systemic disease or infection. It is hard to say. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine him so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I would recommend having x-rays taken of the foot and leg. Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Based on the pictures you have provided, the problem could be associated with an allergy, infection or a immune-mediated disease. I would recommend trying a product called malacetic conditioning spray and apply to the area until resolved. You may have to see your veterinarian to discuss alternative treatment options such as steroid therapy or immunomodulatory therapy to treat and immune-mediated disease. Feline plasma cell pododermatitis can appear like this and treatment is suppressing the immune system and antibiotic therapy. I hope this helps!
