Why is my dog's leg swollen and painful after jumping from the bed?

What you're describing sounds like pain in Zoey. It could be due to a soft tissue/muscle injury or even a herniated disc in her spine. I recommend you keep her quiet and restrict her activity and if she does not improve take her to a veterinarian's office. Do not give any pain medication as human medication can be very toxic to dogs

Limping is a sign of pain in dogs, so Aires is feeling pain from jumping off. She could have strained a ligament jumping off the bed, possibly torn her cruciate ligament, done meniscal damage to her knee, or may have fractured a bone. I would try resting her for 48 hours to see if that helps. No running, jumping, or playing. Take her out to toilet on a lead only, and bring her right back in when she is done. Keep her as quiet as possible. If she is still limping at 48 hours, or if in that time she stops putting weight on it at all, I would take her into the vet right away for an exam. Do not give her any human pain medications, many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. The vet can prescribe safe pain medications for her, and can decide the best course of treatment based on the diagnosis of her limping. For example, cruciate ligament rupture and meniscal damage requires surgery to fix.

Poor Malia! I'm concerned this could be more than bruising. It could be that she has torn a ligament or potentially fractured a bone. She is showing you she is in a lot of pain if she is avoiding jumping on the bed and into the truck. I would take her into the vet this weekend or first thing Monday. Poor Sweet Pea! If she is holding her rear leg up, it means that it is painful and yes she should see a vet for it. She could have broken her leg, or torn or strained a ligament. She likely needs pain medications, and you cannot give her any human ones because many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. The vet can prescribe her pain medications that are safe to give. Ideally, Ziggy should be examined by your veterinarian or a veterinary orthopedic specialist to diagnose ligament damage, arthritic conditions, fractures or tumors. X-rays of the knees and hips will likely be recommended. These can be done under anesthesia or sedation. A veterinary house all service may be an option for an exam. Afterwards, a sedative and/or pain management can be dispensed to make the trip to the clinic easier and less stressful for all parties.

I really feel that Lexi needs to have a full veterinary exam to determine what has happened. From the pictures, one possibility is that she is adjusting how she sits to extend the injured leg out - if she is not putting any weight on that leg then she may have broken it, or injured a ligament. There are also a couple of illnesses that can occur in a young growing dog, thses can be diagnosed with an exam and xrays. If she is limping she should have pain relief - Do not use any human medicines as these may be toxic to her.

Wow, Demi's leg is quite swollen in the pictures! She could have broken a bone, torn a ligament or muscle, or have a severe infection in the leg.
