My pup has been making swallowing sounds recently and last night he spit up about 4 times

I am very sorry you are experiencing these issues with PeeWee. The swallowing noises are often a sign of nausea. This combined with the fact that PeeWee has been spitting up a few times I would be concerned he got into something he shouldn't have. I would monitor him for a few more hours, rest his gastrointestinal tract for this time, then attempt a bland diet of boneless chicken breast boiled and steamed rice.
If he the episodes continue, he begins to also have dirrhoea, He seems weak or or lethargic, or has a fever, I would take him in to the veterinarian for an examination. It is possible he had an obstruction, an infection or that he has eaten something he shouldn't have.
