My dog swallowed felt from the mattress. Will it pass through safely?

I"m sorry that Taco chewed off a piece of his toy. This is a very small piece of fabric and would be most likely to pass. I would monitor him very closely for any changes in behavior, appetite, or if he begins vomiting or having diarrhea. If these clinical signs occur, he should be evaluated by a veterinarian ASAP.

If she has swallowed a piece of flat material (not the actual knot) I would not be immediately concerned (that is unless she was exhibiting distressed breathing indicating it was still in her throat). Fabric will often pass uneventfully and the addition of mild laxatives for a few days can help encourage this. Any vomiting or abdominal pain would raise concerns about possible obstruction and would warrant immediate veterinary attention should it develop (your vets office should have contact information for your nearest emergency clinic if required outside of normal hours)

It can take up to 72 hours for the stuffing to pass, so I wouldn't be worried just yet. There are a couple of possibilities if you don't see any stuffing in Ella's feces: One, she didn't actually eat any. Two, it's moving very slowly through her GI tract. Three, it is stuck in her system. Keep monitoring her and her feces through the end of the week and she's acting normal, then I would suspect she didn't actually eat any of the stuffing. I would only be concerned if Ella stopped eating, become lethargic, and developed other symptoms such as diarrhea or constipation.

Hello. It is difficult to say if & when the floss may pass. In general, things transit the gut of dogs in about 18 hours, but floss can potentially get hung up somewhere. If this just happened, you vet may be able to retrieve the floss with an endoscope. If it has been many hours, I would feed your dog 2 pieces of bread slathered with Vaseline. Feed him a piece at a time. This will bulk up & lubricate any ingesta hopefully moving the floss along. In total, just monitor him over the next 3-5 days for any signs of inappetence, bloating, vomiting or belly pain. I would recommend contacting Midnight's vet about this. Depending on how long ago he ate it it may be recommended to induce vomiting and to try to get him to throw up the sheet. Otherwise closely monitor him for the next few days to weeks for any sign of intestinal blockage; which can include vomiting, straining to defecate, painful in the abdomen, not eating or drinking. Eating filling from a bed will do one of two things, one- it can be pooped out with no complications, two- it can cause a blockage in the gut that requires surgery to remove. I recommend monitoring Buddy closely, if he is eating and pooping just watch his poop for the bedding, but if he is eating and pooping normally for 3 days it has passed through the system. If Buddy has ANY signs of not wanting to eat, vomiting, weakness, sore in his belly, or even just a decreased appetite, then I would get x-rays or an ultrasound ASAP. Hopefully he poops it out soon! She will likely pass it within the next 24 hours. Monitor for lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. These are symptoms that may indicate an obstruction. If you want to be 100% safe, have her seen at the nearest veterinary ER. Vomiting can be induced via injection which should bring the scrunchie back up. This is most successful when done within 2 hours of ingestion.
