My dog suddenly won't walk or get comfortable sitting/lying. Help!

This may be a sign of pain either her hips or knees or tail or back end area. you can look for any redness or swelling around her rectum or under her tail. Make sure her tail moves well in all directions without causing pain. Monitor for any diarrhea, as straining can cause irritation. If she is walking well and still acting normally, you can try to get her to lay down and rest if that helps. If not, then she may need to seen by a vet to find the cause.

That sounds like Toby may be in pain or feeling uncomfortable in the hind end or back, especially if he is shaking, seems in distress, and is abruptly sitting or having trouble walking normally. Poor Jeter! There are a number of things that could cause him to be uncomfortable when he sits down. He may have arthritis in his hips or knees, back pain due to a "slipped" or herniated disc, or even overly full or infected anal glands - these are scent glands located on either side of the rectum in dogs, which can become impacted and sore in some cases. Since this has been happening since yesterday and doesn't seem to be getting better on its own, I would recommend taking Jeter to the vet for an exam. He/she can take x-rays or do other testing if needed to help determine the problem and see what needs to be done to treat it.

Hello! That crouched stance is usually a sign of either back or abdominal pain, which can also cause decreased behavior. I would recommend having him get a physical exam from a veterinarian. If they are able to localize simple arthritis pain, they may be able to give him some anti-inflammatory or pain medications. If they are worried about a serious back problem or abdominal pain, they will likely recommend x-rays to look at his intestinal tract and spine and possibly bloodwork to check his major organ functions. Not being able to walk all of a sudden is an emergency and you need to take Paris to your vet now. If this is caused by a prolapsed disc, then time is of the essence, ie treatment with NSAIDs, pain medication and strict cage rest as early as possible increases the chance of recuperation. There can be other reasons for not being able to walk, and only a hands-on exam will facilitate a diagnosis. Your vet will want to do radiographs, possibly blood tests and do a thorough orthopedic and neurological exam.

I'm not sure how old Daisy is, but she could be suffering from arthritis, may have degenerative joint disease, or could have injured herself. It is concerning that she is having trouble walking, and that indicates she could be in a lot of pain. Given those symptoms, I feel it's best to have her seen by a vet today. The vet can diagnose what is causing her trouble walking, and can treat it while also giving her some pain medications. Please do not give Daisy any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given.
