Why did my pet die suddenly with blood in its stool? Was it poison?

This could include anything from a severe parasite problem to a twist or intussusception, blockage, or even a cancer like lymphoma. These are very general signs that could have happened due to many different conditions such as ones affecting the heart or it could have possibly been due to internal bleeding. It is hard to know with just a brief description provided but those are some things that can affect a dog suddenly. So sorry to hear this again.

I am so sorry about Elsa. If Elsa was a puppy and just had on vaccine she was not fully protected. I would be concerned about Parvovirus at that point. Other then that it could be hemorrhagic gastroenteritis or even a foreign boy obstruction. It could also had been a type of cancer. Without more information it is hard to say definitively what caused this without more information. I am very sorry to hear about your loss. The signs you are describing could be compatible with a rodenticide anti-coagulant intoxication. Bleeding usually starts in the thoracic vessels and when started is often quite late to reverse. It is usually not a painful intoxication and very often quite subtle in terms of clinical signs.

Hi there! I am so, so sorry to hear about Boo. Losing a pet is never easy, and losing them suddenly is even harder. Unfortunately, there's no way for us to tell for sure what happened to Boo without completing a necropsy (post-mortem examination and testing). From the symptoms you mentioned (bloody stool, seizure, lethargy), it could have been multiple issues, including a bacterial infection, gastric ulcer, viral hemorrhagic disease (a virus that can cause bleeding and seizures), parasites, or a clotting disorder. Rabbits are generally very good at hiding their symptoms, so if Boo got sick very quickly, you may not have noticed anything wrong. There was likely nothing that you could have done to prevent this if she was acting normally. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your beautiful girl. Without a necropsy (an autopsy) it's impossible to know exactly what happened or why she passed. Dogs can have heart attacks and strokes just like humans and it's possible this is what happened to her. It's strictly a guess but it sounds as if her passing was peaceful. Try to focus on the memories you created in those 6.5 years. She will always be with you in your heart. My condolences.

Vomiting and bloody stools can occur from many conditions such as foreign body ingestion and obstruction, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. If he is having seizures that make this very serious as this is possibly unrelated and could be seen with conditions such as low blood sugar from vomiting, brain inflammation, epilepsy, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Bruno evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. This will likely require bloodwork and abdominal imaging in terms of diagnostics and possibly an MRI. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least your veterinarian could start him on medications to make him feel better. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to prevent dehydration.
