My dog was stung, has extreme neck & mouth swelling. What should I do?

Hello. Most likely Yuki was bitten or stung by something. She may have snapped at a bee or wasp flying by & it is not uncommon to get stung inside the mouth. Those images could either be a bite that is infected, or could be a very enlarged lymph node and a condition called 'puppy strangles' where the lymph nodes swell up. Either way, it looks very serious and requires medical attention. The treatment for these two different conditions is very different and treatment for one could make the other much worse. If the swelling is hot and painful to touch, it is probably an abscess. In this case, you should take Angie to your local vets for an appointment today. If the swelling is not bothering your puppy, is soft and is not warm to touch, it could be an allergic reaction. In that case, you can monitor Angie at home for a few hours and apply a cold compress on the face every 1-2 hrs. If it is an allergy, the swelling should go down in the next 5-6 hrs.
