My dog got into storage, now struggles to breathe and swallow.

Poor Duke sounds quite ill at the moment! It's serious that he can't seem to breath, and that he hasn't eaten or laid down all day. There are a number of things that could be causing this, such as respiratory infection, cardiac disease, pain, infection, inflammation, cancer, or heartworm disease among others. Unfortunately without seeing him in person, I can't narrow it down further. My recommendation is to take him into a vet immediately, who can diagnose what is causing his symptoms so he can be treated.

He likely knocked his throat hard enough that eating or swallowing is irritating the vagus nerve and causes retching. You should monitor this and if it does not get better by tomorrow or if he has breathing problems, he will need to be seen by a veterinarian or at a petER. In the case of respiratory problems this is an emergency and he needs to be seen right away.

If you are concerned about something stuck in Doggo's throat, I would have him examined by your veterinarian to appropriately identify the cause of the symptoms. If you are unable to get to your vet right away, I would maybe offer soft food on the off chance this is irritation in the throat from something Doggo swallowed. Soft food would be much easier than hard food to swallow. An examination will help identify any obvious object lodged in the mouth or throat. My concern would be that if he is having a hard time swallowing then it could progress to having a hard time breathing. Should this happen while you are sleeping it could be catastrophic. Please have her assessed urgently by a vet, breathing difficulties can rapidly deteriorate and can become very serious. Heart, lung issues or gastrointestinal obstruction can all present similarly and require urgent treatment to stabilise. It is never recommended to stop treat me prematurely or to randomly treat with left over medications as this can delay and confuse diagnosis

Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies.
