My dog has a split nail. Can I treat it at home or does he need a vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 54 lbs

My dogs nail is split and I have no idea how to treat it. Right now we dont know if we can pay for a get but we dont want his nail to get infected or anything else. I am asking for advice to see if we do possibly need to go to the vet

This rarely get infected if disinfected properly, but a check up would be ideal just to cut off the remaining part of the nail.
Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths (at least twice daily for the next 3-4 days. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking.
